Anirban Choudhury, or “Roy” as known amongst his peers, was born in Kolkata, India. After dabbling in Graphic, Web and Multimedia design for seven years in Mumbai and Delhi, he moved to the United States in 2005 to pursue an education and career in Graphic Design. 

Soon after graduation, he earned an internship under renowned late photographer Charlie Freeman. Roy’s photography career began in 2008, working in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area as a photo assistant, digital-tech and retoucher. He has worked with many premiere modeling agencies in Dallas and Los Angeles, shooting for model portfolios as well as reputed photographers, fashion brands, retail chains and in the JC Penney in-house studio. 

 It is this versatile exposure that has helped shape and develop his personal style. While his main interest is beauty, fashion, editorial and lifestyle photography, he is also open to exploring other genres. His editorials have been published in various international fashion magazines and e-zines such as iMute, Vulkan, Elléments, ON, HUFF, Maxim, FHM India, etc. 

 After establishing himself as a professional photographer for eleven years in the United States, he moved back to Kolkata in 2017. Since then, he has served as a mentor for fashion photography curriculum at International Institute of Photography, a premier photography school. He has also conducted numerous workshops on portrait and fashion photography in India, Bali and Malaysia.
